The Bishop’s
Stortford Decorative and Fine Arts Society usually (but not inevitably) meets
on the The Society also organizes a programme of one day visits throughout the year to centres of historical, cultural and artistic importance. Bookings for these are taken at the monthly meetings with the book being opened six to eight weeks in advance of the visit. One longer tour, generally lasting four or five days is organized each year and bookings for this are taken from the September meeting. There are two study days arranged for each year which are highly interactive and last for about five hours. These typically include three lectures and lunch. Again, bookings are taken some six to eight weeks before the event. Subject to the availability of space, and on payment of an appropriate donation, guests are welcome at any of the Society’s activities. The Society holds its AGM at the start of the November meeting, at which time the new committee is elected and the programme of events for the forthcoming year becomes available. Membership is renewable on December 1st, the annual subscription being agreed by members at the AGM. The current rate (2012) is £32 for individual membership and £58 for joint.
